However, being in Nigeria and earning in dollars doesn’t come easy because you have to know your onions. Here are a few ways you can earn in dollars while living in Nigeria:
1. Freelancing or Remote Full-time Jobs:
One of the top ways to earn in dollars or other foreign currencies is by freelancing or working remotely. 2. Blogging or Vlogging:
If you can write or speak well, then you can also earn foreign currency from clients abroad who are interested in your written or video content. Blogging lets you earn from visits to your blog and advertisements. You should consider vlogging on YouTube and other platforms if you enjoy doing videos and have exciting and educative content to talk about.
Blogging refers to writing, photography, and other media that’s self-published online. Blogging started as an opportunity for individuals to write diary-style entries, but it has since been incorporated into websites for many businesses. The hallmarks of blogging include frequent updates, informal language, and opportunities for readers to engage and start a conversation.
How Blogging Works
Blogging is as simple as obtaining a website and publishing original content on it. Tech-savvy bloggers can buy a domain name and build the website themselves. Those with less HTML knowledge can create an account with sites like WordPress that simplify the web design and publishing process.
Starting and monetizing a blog has never been easier than it is today.
Not too long it is now.
But now, you can get a domain name for just $8 and hosting for $15. After which you build your blog/website. Google pays and you earn directly into your bank account.

3. Virtual Trainer:
Teachers are not left out on this list. You can earn in dollars if you enjoy teaching by simply putting courses or tutorials on different platforms online.
A Quick Introduction to Virtual Training
What is Virtual Training?
The short answer is that virtual training courses are classes that trainees or students participate in from their home or office rather than a traditional classroom or other designated training environment. A virtual environment is instead used by a trainer or coach to show, explain, and teach skills.
Generally speaking, virtual training (sometimes referred to as virtual instructor-led training, or VILT) takes the fundamentals of an in-person training experience and uses a virtual platform to replicate the experience as effectively as possible.
Trainers and learners all log into the chosen platform from independent locations and take part in a workshop or class that takes place on live video in real-time. A true virtual workshop is highly interactive, not just a presentation, and participants are encouraged to engage in all manner of ways, ranging from sharing during discussions, starting conversations, practicing skills, and asking questions.
As far as requirements and duration, virtual training can be as short as a single-serving 60-minute workshop or an ongoing series of lectures and workshops leading to a single goal, competency, or certification. Other online, and even in-person, training could supplement the virtual sessions to create what’s referred to as a blended learning program.
So take note that a quality virtual training solution that will meet your specific needs will be a key factor–we’ll address that in more detail down below.
Why is Virtual Training Important Nowadays?
There is an obvious advantage of virtual training in that it doesn’t require physical presence at your class or session, therefore overcoming geographical obstacles. Whether there are limitations due to individual physical challenges or the location of the training in the real world, nothing (or at least far less!) is impossible. Additionally, it eliminates the need for (and expenses of) travel time away from work or home; remote workers can be included rather than miss in-office sessions, all learners can avoid interruptions in work or home life and conveniently access training.
So the virtual environment opens up access to training for more diverse options and participants. Obviously, in the recent pandemic environment, it is also the safest option, and numerous classes, workshops, and other public events have rushed to virtual formats since 2020. With a virtual training environment, all productivity doesn’t have to grind to a complete halt. Following this disruption, opportunities have flocked to online spaces. There are now worldwide shifts in business and education towards remote work and remote learning, and smart management will want to get in front of these trends.
4. Publish E-books:
Writing and publishing e-books on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing or other online platforms is one of the most popular and sure ways to earn dollars while living in Nigeria.
Many authors upload their eBook to Amazon KDP, and then an aggregator site to reach other retailers. But don’t go crazy; the more platforms you have to deal with, the more of your precious time it’ll require – and there’s also no point submitting your book to the same stores more than once.
This is our round-up of the top publishing platforms for eBooks, but we’d recommend you check them (and others) for yourself:
a. Smashwords
Cost: Free
Royalties: 60% from retailer, 80% from Smashwords Store.
Smashwords is one of the best eBook aggregator sites out there – upload your book with them and it’ll reach Apple Books, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and loads more retailers and library networks.
They offer you a free ISBN if you want one and provide you with daily sales reporting from the biggest stores so you can track how well your book is doing.
b. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)
Cost: Free
Royalties: Up to 70%.
Amazon sells an absolutely HUGE number of eBooks, so their publishing platform, Amazon KDP, is massively popular too – and through it, you’re able to reach a vast audience.
c. Draft2Digital
Cost: Free
Royalties: Up to 60%.
This is a slightly newer site in the aggregator game and has a sleeker, more modern design than the old-school Smashwords, its main rival.
It doesn’t distribute to quite as many sites as Smashwords does, but it hits all the main ones like Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble and Kobo.
The best thing about Draft2Digital is their automated formatting service, which turns your basic Word document into a smart, professional eBook – easy!
c. Lulu
Cost: Free
Royalties: 45%.
Another up-and-coming eBook aggregator site, Lulu will distribute your eBook to all the major retailers (including Amazon).
However, unlike Draft2Digital, they won’t help you out with formatting and your book has to pass their Quality Assurance test to be accepted. As such, unless you’re confident in doing this yourself, you might be better off going elsewhere.
d. Kobo Writing Life
Cost: Free
Royalties: Up to 70%.
Kobo is a pretty big eBook retailer – although not on the same level as Amazon or Apple, it’s available in close to 200 countries.
They’ll convert your manuscript into EPUB format and, as long as your book is priced at £1.99 or more (or equivalent), you’ll receive 70% of your book’s listed price – any books cheaper than that will earn you 45%. Plus, you’re still completely free to publish your books elsewhere if you like!
e. Barnes & Noble Press
Cost: Free
Royalties: 70%.
Formerly Nook Press, this is the official Barnes & Noble eBook publishing site – they’re a huge retailer in the US and have a big audience here in the UK too.
You’ll make 70% on any eBook priced between $0.99 – $199.99, meaning you’ll earn more distributing directly through B&N rather than via an aggregator site. That said, uploading your books to individual retailers is more hassle.
You’ll benefit from all the extra promotion that comes with being on the B&N site (they have millions of customers), and they offer an easy-to-navigate dashboard so you can track sales.
