The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in a Commonwealth country with a low or middle income.
The scholarships, which are aimed at students who are committed to making a difference in their communities, are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to a new nation and culture, broaden perspectives, and develop a worldwide network that will last a lifetime.
Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholars help bring about positive change and find solutions to the shared difficulties we confront, both in their home countries and those that host them, through cultural interaction and scholarly collaboration. Scholars will help define the Commonwealth Network’s future as active members.
Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships Requirements
- Citizens (or those who hold refugee status) in a Commonwealth country are welcome to apply.

Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships University entry requirements
Candidates eligible to apply for a Master’s degree in the Department of Process Engineering include graduates with a four-year undergraduate degree leading to a professional qualification such as BEng and BSc Eng, or graduates with a BSc Honours degree in one of the following fields: computer science, mathematics, applied mathematics, chemistry, biological sciences or physics.
Applicants are required to submit a university application at the same time as their scholarship application.
Please note that applicants to South Africa will need to complete a SAQA equivalence to be considered for a scholarship as this is required by the South African institutions.
